Welcome to the official website for the City of Mascoutah, Illinois!

The City is constantly working to make this site easier to navigate and more user friendly. This site will continually grow and expand to provide information about current happenings and events within our community.

Established in 1837 and with a population of 6,737, the City of Mascoutah is a great place to raise families, build business, and experience the benefits of big city living in a hometown atmosphere.

The Mascoutah Parks and Recreation Commission, in conjunction with EWR Associates, Inc., have completed a Master Plan for Prairie Lake Park located in the 1400 block of West Main Street.  The Commission’s primary objective is to improve and enhance the park for the enjoyment of the community while maintaining the site and lake as a natural location for fishing, non-motorized watercraft, picnicking, hiking and enjoyment of the natural creek environment.

The City of Mascoutah will be holding a public hearing and open house to review the Prairie Lake Park Plan on May 8, 2008 in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.  The open house will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the public hearing will be conducted at 7 p.m.
